Not only does Kid Cudi make dope music, he has an original style and a keen eye for fashion. He’s not one of those hip hop dudes rocking basic jeans and tees, Cudi puts a different level thought and creativity into his look. Reminiscent of Kanye and Pharell, Cudi borrows inspiration from punks and skateboarders, basing his look around slim pants, nerd glasses, lots of plaid, and bold mens’ accessories. While catching up on my daily urban gossip fix, I spotted a flick of Teairra Mari leaving Katsuya in LA looking super cute in a pair of shiny leggings, a tee, and military jacket. Remember Teairra from a few years back? She came out on Def Jam in 2005 around the same time as Rhianna. Rhianna blew up while Teairra Mari fell into the shadows. Teairra Mari is making a comeback in 2010, with her new single “Sponsor” featuring Gucci Mane and Soulja Boy. The song is pretty hot! The military look is really hot right now. Last week Beyonce was spotted courtside at the Knicks game with hubby Jay-Z rocking Balmain camoflauge pants, military blazer, and studded pumps. Most of us don’t have a Balmain clothing budget, but we can still take inspiration from Beyonce’s look to rock the military style for ourselves. They key to effectively wearing military style is to not go overboard with it, using colors, patterns, and elements of military style to pull the look together without looking like you are about to hop off a tanker and head to battle. Grommets, studs, military insignia, and colors such as tan, olive, brown and navy are the way to go.
