Lana Moto Booties by Dolve Vita….$275.00

I think I’m in love…again. This shoe is off the hook hot! The zippers, the flap, the platform heel..fire! I could do without the thong between the toes, but I would make the sacrifice for the sake of these booties. Paired with a light, airy, floral mini skirt, these shoes are perfect for spring. Visit UrbanMall for the latest urban clothing, footwear and accessories for women.

I’m Digging: Boyfriend Shirt Dress by Cavi

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

I love the simple nature of a shirt dress. It’s a one piece item that looks very pulled together with the addition of a few key accessories. This belted shirt dress by Cavi skims the body and accentuates the waistline, hitting at the mid-thigh (very flattering). It would be great with lots of bracelets, hoop earrings, a pair of nude wedges or riding boots.

Jumpers, onesies, rompers…whatever you want to call them, one-piece outfits are very NOW. All our favorite urban celebrities are rocking jumpsuits, but no one is rocking them like Kanye West’s boo, Amber Rose. This chick has a body made for form-fitting one-piece outfits.. If I had a body like hers, catsuits would be my signature look too!

You don’t have to be a super bootylicious rap star’s girlfriend to pull off the one-piece look. UrbanMall.com brings you some featured pieces to update your look..check it out!

While its fun to dress up and be flirty, sometimes girls want to dress for comfort. Instead of throwing on that ratty velour tracksuit from 2003, go sporty glam with textured leggings, a cute baggy tee, and flashy sneakers from UrbanMall.com.

Spring Urban Fashion Trend: Military Style

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

The military look is really hot right now. Last week Beyonce was spotted courtside at the Knicks game with hubby Jay-Z rocking Balmain camoflauge pants, military blazer, and studded pumps. Most of us don’t have a Balmain clothing budget, but we can still take inspiration from Beyonce’s look to rock the military style for ourselves. They key to effectively wearing military style is to not go overboard with it, using colors, patterns, and elements of military style to pull the look together without looking like you are about to hop off a tanker and head to battle. Grommets, studs, military insignia, and colors such as tan, olive, brown and navy are the way to go.

UrbanMall.com has some great military inspired pieces to choose from.

Fashion Inspiration: Runways or Street Fashion?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

We’re in the midst of  fashion week in major fashion markets across the world – New York, Paris, Milan, and Los Angeles. Designers are showcasing their latest designs, setting forth the trends that we’ll be seeing in stores in upcoming seasons.

While these high fashion runway shows provide inspiration to fashionistas across the world, I for one am inspired by the runways of everyday life…sidewalks. Street fashion.

People on the street inspire my style in ways that the runways simply can’t compare to. I love to see the twist everyday people put on mainstream fashion trends. Skinny pants with knee high boots. Shorts and tights. Baggy jeans and fitteds, or tons and tons of chains. It’s intriguing to see how people pair items together in ways I would never think of and to observe the random pieces they choose to don. Street fashion is inspiring because its individual, its unique, and its not a copycat of pieces from the runways that will be duplicated and mass-marketed in stores.

What inspires you? High fashion? Street fashion? Both? Tell me what you think!

Bigstew says ” Toi, you have vision…that’s why I rely on you to help me keep one eye on the runway…so that guy’s don’t all dress the same!”  Meanwhile, you’all should head to  UrbanMall, visit Drjays and DJPremium, and see how fashion reflects.

With about a month of winter left, I’m already thinking about what I want to rock this spring. It may still be chilly in some climates, but in my hood we’re already in a spring state of mind. The warmth may be fleeting, but this little taste of sunshine has me ready to bring my arms and legs out!

Now is the time to start planning those spring looks, so that when the temperatures begin to climb, you will be ready. If you stay ready, you ain’t got to get ready.
